An intensive training, play and experimentation workshop on the infinite expressive and communicative possibilities of the body.

A journey that starts from the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq ‘s Physical Theater and develops into an original method developed by Matteo Cionini in over 15 years of teaching and pedagogical research and international artistic experiences.

The Body has its own extensive memory, separate from the conscious memory, and is responsible for most interpersonal communication.

Our body is a repository of experiences, sensations, instincts, drives and stories; it talks nonstop and often without our realizing it…

The Theater is storytelling, but before anything else it is an encounter between human beings who share a time and a space. A sharing that is first of all physical, because it is through the body that emotions, presence and empathy flow.

In an age of increasing and ubiquitous digitization and increasing dehumanization of the other, the Theater becomes an oasis of Humanity in which it is necessary to take refuge in order to find oneself and restart.

The work proposed in this workshop is designed to stimulate a different and deeper bodily and communicative awareness, and to provide useful tools so that the mnemonic and expressive heritage in one’s body can be used and communicated effectively to an audience, and make it possible to excite and win them over.

The method consists of moments of play, technical exercises, guided experiences and moments of improvisation or small individual or group creations.

The idea is that through play a free and protected environment is generated in which to experiment and discover new things about oneself and others.

The work is designed for anyone who wants to experience greater physical and emotional awareness, and for actresses and actors or aspiring actors who want to improve their stage presence and body expressiveness.

It is necessary to arrive prepared: comfortable clothes for movement, willingness to work barefoot, and especially willingness to play!

MiME CRAFT (residential lab.)

“MiME CRAFT” is the method developed by Matteo Cionini in over 15 years of teaching in Italy and around the world.
His method comes from Jacques Lecoq’s Physical Theater pedagogy, nurtured by other masters (Patrizia Besantini, Yves Lebreton, Elena Serra) and especially by an artistic and pedagogical research that blends theater, visual arts and psychology of perception.
Because MiMO is Art of the Gesture, but also of the Gaze. Knowing the mechanisms of human perception can be extremely useful, as well as having a good knowledge of the body and its expressive potential.

The workshop is an introduction to the Art of Mime, basic techniques and main theoretical principles.

Broadly speaking, these are the topics covered:

– The body as an artistic tool (isolations, proprioception, movement qualities)
– Basic techniques of drawing the Invisible: solid forms, objects, environments
– Theoretical principles of human perception, applied to MiMO
– Group games (Mime Olympics)
– Improvisations and small creations
– Elements of using music and sound effects
– MiMO vs REAL OBJECTS
– MiME PARTY
